New Russian-Azerbaijani project “Baku Remembers Erzia!” started in Baku. It is dedicated to the 145th anniversary of S.Erzia and the friendship of Stepan Erzia and Sergey Yesenin in Azerbaijan in 1923-1925.
Sergei Yesenin House Museum and «Rossotrudnichestvo» organized the celebration of Sergei Yesenin’s Day in Mardakany on September 3, 2019. Erzia International Art Foundation took part in the celebration too.
On October 4, 2019, the Russian Information Cultural Center and the Erzia International Art Foundation (Moscow) organized a creative evening dedicated to the little-known history of poet Sergei Yesenin and sculptor Stepan Erzia’s friendship in Azerbaijan in 1924-1925.
The topic of creative communication between two outstanding people of Russian culture is still little- known to admirers of their talents. Nowdays this is one of the most important topics of the new Russian-Azerbaijani historical and cultural project “Baku Remembes Erzia!” The theme of friendship between S.Yesenin and S.Erzia started in the exhibition project “Beloved Russia and Mordovia!” This project took place with the support of the State Museum of Sergei Yesenin in the poet’s homeland in Konstantinovo village in 2016. The Vice-President of Erzia International Art Foundation E. Butrova told the audience about this.
The program of Baku evening consists of stories about the meetings of the poet and the sculptor in Baku as well as their trips in Azerbaijan. For the first time the guests of the center saw the publicistic film “Beloved Russia and Mordovia!” about S.Yesenin and S.Erzia (State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Mordovia, 1995) The guests got acquainted with the works of Art school students in Baku. Children actively responded a new and interesting topic of their native land. They submitted about 300 drawings to the competition. The jury selected about 30 best drawings. These drawings were shown during the exhibition at Erzia Gallery.
The Foundation has prepared memorable gifts and diplomas for all participants of the competition. The curator of the international children’s project Vlada Prosvirkina held the award ceremony.
