On the 8th of November, the team of Erzya International Art Foundation gathered to commemorate the great sculptor Stepan Erzya next to his studio in the Sokol area in Moscow.
Erzya lived in this apartment (situated on 2 Peschanaya str.) from 1953 till 1959, and it was a difficult time in his life. After returning to Moscow, he managed to arrange only one personal exhibition to present his works of the Argentinian period to the Moscow audience.
After this exhibition, many art lovers were coming to Erzya’s studio to see his sculptures with their own eyes.
Stepan Erzya loved Moscow with his whole heart and dreamt that his heritage would become a part of the exposition of one of the museums in the capital.
The vice-president of the foundation Elena Butrova said the solemn word to honor the memory of the artist.
Another important place visited that day was Museon park, where the statue of Stepan Erzya is located (it’s created by Dmitry Tugarinov in 2002).
